About Me

Dave in the garden
Hi
My name’s Dave Sutter
I’d call myself a bit of a lazy environmentalist. I’ve always wanted to do the right thing for the environment but it’s not easy to change habits that you’ve built up over years.
The easy gesture that we made was to recycle our rubbish and with myself, my wife and four kids we created a lot of rubbish! Gradually I made sure that we recycled as much as we could, even making the trip to the local supermarket to deposit plastic bottles because we weren’t allowed to put them in our black box.
Then a couple of years ago we got chickens so we could dispose of all our kitchen waste They’re amazing and will eat pretty much anything, I think spaghetti bolognese is their favourite! I even started to do a bit of vegetable gardening in my spare time to try and cut down what we bought from the supermarket and surprised myself by how much I enjoyed it.
Last year my eldest daughter had a baby and it really made us think about our lives and the legacy that we’re leaving our grandchildren. wife and I decided that we should be doing more to save our planet so I started to look into ways to live a “cleaner” life. Sustainable energy seemed the simplest way to make a big impact so that’s something I spent a lot of time looking into and as we had a south facing garding that go a lot of sunshine solar power was my favourite option.
This blog is about my thoughts on the subject.
